To connect your Enplug device to the Internet using an Ethernet cable, you'll need:
- An Enplug device.
- An Ethernet cable (CAT5/CAT5E/CAT6).
- A free Ethernet port on your switch or a free LAN port on your router.
With these items, you'll plug the cable into the Ethernet port on your device. Ensure the other end of the cable is connected to your Internet switch/router.
Notes:
- If you're having trouble connecting to the Internet, reference this article for network configuration requirements.
- In most cases, establishing the Internet connection is automatic upon plugging in the Ethernet cable. If your router has a disabled DHCP, the connection process won't be automatic and requires setting a Static IP address.
- If you're using VLANs, ensure proper configuration.
- The Enplug device doesn't support 802.1X, Port-based Network Admission Control, System Health Validators, or IPSec .
- Don't give your Enplug device a public IP address. Use only non-routed private IP addresses as described in IETF RFC 1918 (EX: 192.168.x.x.).
