To maintain security and adhere to SOC2 compliance standards, Spectrio is retiring support for legacy Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 and 1.1 protocols.
This aligns with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industry best practices, as older protocols no longer meet modern data encryption requirements. Moving forward, supported devices must use TLS 1.2 or higher for secure communication.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why is this change happening?
This is part of Spectrio’s ongoing effort to strengthen platform security and support SOC2 compliance requirements.
TLS 1.0 and 1.1 have been retired across much of the SaaS industry in favor of the more secure TLS 1.2 and higher.
The vast majority of devices on our network already utilize TLS 1.2 or higher. For most customers, no action is required.
- Is my network impacted?
Impact is limited to a small subset of legacy hardware, primarily older Odroid or Android-based devices running outdated firmware or operating systems.
Spectrio is proactively monitoring network traffic to identify potentially impacted devices as they connect.
If your devices support TLS 1.2 or higher, no action is needed.
- What happens if my device is impacted?
If your device is affected, your Account Manager or our technical team may contact you to discuss next steps.
From that point, there are primarily two options:
- Update the device firmware or operating system to a version that supports TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Replace the impacted device with a modern, supported media player. This option is recommended to ensure long-term reliability.
Note: Due to the makeup of certain legacy operating systems, Spectrio may not be able to perform updates remotely. In some cases, on-site support may be required.
