Using a Samsung Tizen Television for Enplug Display

Requirements

To use a Samsung Tizen television for Enplug display, the following are required:

• A commercial grade Samsung Tizen television with a Tizen 4.0-6.5 operating system.
• Power and Internet connection for the television.

Note: You can reference the Tizen manual for assistance with setup.

 

Prepping a Tizen Television

Before setting up a Tizen television as your display, you’ll need to do the following:

Note: On newer versions of Tizen, the background color will be blue and not white as in the screenshots below.

1. Press MENU on the television’s remote control.
2. Navigate to System, then select Reset System.
3. Navigate to General, then select Empty Storage.
4. Return to System, select Time, then set the time using Clock Set.
5. Under System, select Power Control.
6. Switch on Auto Power On.
   • This automatically powers on your television when it’s connected to a power source and is useful in situations of power outages.
7. Switch off Max Power Saving.
   • This will prevent your television from powering off when not desired.

 

Note: You’ll need to ensure the television is set to the same timezone as your Enplug account. 

To change your television’s timezone settings:

1. Press MENU on the television’s remote control.
2. Navigate to System, then select Time.
3. Select NTP Settings and adjust accordingly.

 

Setting a Tizen Television as a Display

To use a Tizen television as an Enplug display:

1. Press MENU on the television’s remote control.
2. Navigate to System, then select Play via.
3. Set to URL Launcher.
   • Note: On newer versions of Tizen, you’ll select Custom App.
4. Return to System and disable Auto Source Switching.
5. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
6. From this menu, select URL Launcher.
   • Note: On newer versions of Tizen, you’ll select App Management.
7. Enter https://downloads.spectrio.com/tizen, then click Done.
8. The application will automatically install and, once completed, launch.
9. Press SOURCE on your remote control.
10. Select URL Launcher.

When setup is completed, you’ll see a two-word phrase on your screen. Use this to connect the television to your Enplug account.

You can link the television to existing or new content.

 

Supported Apps

The following Enplug applications are supported when using a Tizen Television for display:

• Ad Scheduler
• Content Library
• Graphics and Video
• PLTV
• Templates
• Menu Board
• Web Page

 

Note: You may have, or add, other apps on your Enplug account, but they won’t display on your Tizen television.

 

Troubleshooting

If you’re stuck at a loading screen after pairing, you may need to update the Tizen firmware.

 

To do so:

1. Power on your television and connect to the Internet.
2. Press MENU on the television’s remote control.
3. Navigate to Settings, then select Support.
4. Select Software Update, then Update Now.
5. Confirm the update by selecting Yes.

This will reboot the television and should resolve your issue.

Alternatively, you can delete the Tizen from your display group, then attempt the pairing process again.
