FAQ: Hardware and Internet Requirements

What kind of displays do I need?

Any 1080p display or HDTV that has an HDMI input will support the Enplug Device.

We also support 720p displays, although this is not recommended due to the lower resolution. Please let us know in advance if you plan on running your device on a 720p display.

What kind of WiFi is needed to run Enplug?

Your WiFi network must be able to maintain a stable connection with adequate signal strength to the area where Enplug will be deployed. The default adapter is compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac networks on the 2.4GHz band.

If your wifi is not strong enough in your desired area you have several options.

Our newer model WiFi adapters have a removal antenna. That means you can detach the stock antenna and add a high-gain one. Any WiFi antenna with an RP-SMA female connector will fit.

Other options include using a range extender or changing the channel settings on your wireless router. Please contact your network administrator, or let our support department know you need help. You can reach our tech team by sending an E-mail to support@enplug.com.

There is an instructional video for connecting your device to wifi here.

What kind of internet connection is needed to run Enplug?

We recommend a broadband internet connection with a minimum bit rate of 5 Mbps.

Does Enplug run on ethernet?

Yes, a hard line internet connection to the Enplug device via ethernet is recommended, although Enplug also works great on wifi.
